 "Help!!" 2009-10-08
By BB (Orinda, CA)
I just purchased the 16-Cup Cuisinart Elite Food Processor and used it today. Easy to use, etc., no problems until I tried to get the middle bowl out of the larger bowl to wash! It won't budge! Anyone else have this problem? What am I to do?

 "Cumbersome to use" 2009-10-06
By Miss Kitty (citrus heights, CA)
I was so excited to purchase my first Cuisinart food processor. I didnt think I had high expectations (I had been using an old Braun 5 in 1) but I have to agree with all the reviewers that said this machine is a pain to use. Here is why: the food pusher must be lined up perfectly and must be engaged before the machine will start. Once the pusher is in place and the machine is off, you cannot remove the lid or the bowl for that matter without removing the food pusher first which is a big hassel. I am used to working quickly and being able to remove the lid and give things a stir, then return it and turn the machine back on. You cannot do this with this machine which was extremely annoying for me, infact I had to return it. I also did not like that the discs it came with were not reversible or adjustable. My old Braun had a dual sided slicing/shredding discs and I found that I would now have to purchase extra slicing discs to have the same options I used to have with my old processor.

After returning this machine I did my homework and found that the cuisinart elite series had all the features I have come to expect from using my old Braun. Everything is very easy to assemble and just snaps into place. The lid is easy to remove when the machine is not in use (no extra steps involved). The machine is extremely easy and intuituve to use and I love that it came with reversible/adjustable blades - saves space and I will not need to purchase extra discs now. I purchased the 16 cup version from william sonoma and absolutely LOVE IT! It is almost twice the price, but if your at all picky about your kitchen appliances I highly recommend spending the extra money - it is well worth it.

I've had no problems at all, and I have used it almost daily. We are enjoying it for salads, such as cole slaw, and shredded lettuce. I use it to make bread dough. Bean dips are real easy to make. I am looking forward to trying some of the recipes in the book.

 "Cuisinart 14-cup food processor" 2009-10-02

Bought this product based on recommendation of The Barefoot Contessa, Ina Garten, famed cook and author seen on the Food Network. It is one of her 10 essential kitchen tools. My best friend has an early model we used together to make pie crust for apple pies. It made light work of that job.

Further, this is a beautiful machine you would be proud to keep out on counter, and Amazon's price was right. Looking forward to using mine during the holidays for pie crusts and other favorite family recipes.

 "Over zealous safety" 2009-09-22
By Richard C. Sovish (Danville, CA)
I agree with all the criticism of those folks who rated the product 2 or less stars. Power, yes, but the manufacturer has gone overboard on the safety bit just as other folks have described. Of course, that may be due to our over lawyer-ed litigious society! I have had my machine for about a year, use about once a week, and find the construction awkward too. Fortunately, no cracks yet but I am sure they will eventually show up. I have another criticism, the machine leaks terribly. I like to make soups, gazpacho etc. There is always a lot of liquid left behind on the bench when the bowl is removed. Furthermore, when you try to pour out the liquid, the cutter falls out unless you are sure to retain it. Hint: I fixed that problem by wrapping some teflon pipe tape around the shaft. Add that to overseas customer service, an oxymoron, and I am sorry I spent the bucks.
