All I did was boil water for pasta and it started growing black spots before I added the salt or pasta. I stopped the cooking and washed the pan out again even though I had washed it when I took it out of the box. The spots wouldn't come off and the entire interior took on a dull finish from plain dish detergent and a sponge. Save your money

I purchased this identical 5-1/2-quart Cuisinart stainless steel pot from a retail store. I filled it up with water, added salt, and turned the heat to medium high. Before the water boiled (this is the first time I used it after pre-washing), my wife and I noticed dark black spotting forming a branching crystalline pattern on the interior of the pan in the water. Small black spots also appeared randomly along the bottom. These stains could not be removed completely by washing -- we're pretty certain this is a defective pot, and will be returning the item.

Made in China, like most/all of the Cuisinart Chef's Classic line nowadays.

While this seems like a quality pan (I have the 8" and 12"), even when using low heat and oil food still sticks. I'm a bit of a health-nut and dislike needing so much oil to prevent sticking. I originally bought this pan because I don't like teflon which is being researched for its link to health problems so I wanted a stainless steel pan. Unfortunately, I'm not a very happy customer.

I bought the 10-piece set of the Cuisinart Chef's Classic stainless steel, and have supplemented it with the 12-inch fry pan. I think this is one of the best performing pans for the money that you can buy and after nearly 5 years of owning these pots and pans, I would not hesitate to do it again. I fully expect these to last until I am ready to drop some more serious coin on All-Clad. This product line is both functional and beautiful. I sometimes place a lot of performance demand on my stainless steel, and this set handles it with aplomb. Compared to All-Clad, I would give it 4 stars for solid performance, but at this price level . . . I give it 5 stars without a doubt! The combination of value and performance in this product makes it unbeatable.

This pan has been used in a fire station for about 6 months and has held up very well. And, as you may imagine, it has not been treated gently at all. It gets used AT LEAST once a day and overall I have had very positive feedback from the guys. If it can hold up to station abuse AND cook well, then I definitely recommend it, especially at such a reasonable price.

I looked, read, researched, shopped, compared, and asked friends opinions when I had to purchase a new set of cookware to replace the set I lost in a fire. I wanted to get away from using non-stick cookware, and it came down to this set. I am very happy with the quality, ease of cleaning and exceptional heat conductivity of these pans. I like the lightweight stainless lids rather than the heavy, hard to store glass lids. Just put the dirty pan in soapy water and after dinner they just wipe out. For the occasional stubborn stain, a little Bon Ami, or barkeepers friend polishes them right up. I love the outside satin finish - very pretty. Thanks to Amazon, I got this set at an exceptional low cost, free shipping and delivered in a matter of days. Now I'm cooking like a pro and for a fraction of the cost of All Clad!!!

I love this set! Don't confuse it with Cuisinart's inferior Chef's Classic line, which only has the tri-ply disk on the bottom, instead of the Multclad Pro's tri-ply construction on the sides and bottom like All-Clad. Food tastes better. I compared these to All-Clad in Macy's and I prefer the handles. All-Clad lids were slightly heavier (pans were not) but the Cuisinart handles were better.

It is impossible to keep them looking perfect; the bottoms are getting slightly scratched by my electric stove top. I also cook (sauté, pan fry) using salt, and I've heard that creates pock marks in this cookware if the water isn't boiling. A little Bon Ami, which I use instead of Barkeeper's Friend, takes them back to almost-new condition.

I'm going to use and enjoy them!

Wife and I could not be any happier. I did a great deal of research to find the best price/function. This set greatly exceeded expectations. Aluminum core up the sides makes a big difference. Our weekly pasta sauce no longer sticks to the bottom. Heating is very even and quick. Stay away from Non-stick. It eventually falls apart and you're stuck with junk! We had Calphalon Non-stick but it wore out after about 5 years. Honestly, cleaning these pans is NO problem whatsoever and are dishwasher safe although I have chosen to hand wash with little to no difficulty. You won't be disappointed.

I researched stainless steel cookware sets for almost a year. I had non-stick for quite a few years, but decided I didn't want to use non-stick anymore because of so many unanswered questions and debate about the safety of non-stick. I was a little nervous to change to having all stainless in my set because I thought it would be miserable to clean, but not with this set! I have had the Cuisinart 12 quart stockpot for years and though it is not multiclad, I LOVE it! I finally got around to looking for a complete set of cookware and I don't know what took me so long to finally buy this set. It's wonderful! Cooks evenly and is very easy to clean. It is well worth the extra money for the multiclad. They are the perfect weight... not too heavy, but very sturdy and very well designed. I highly recommend this cookware for those who love to cook on high quality cookware, but do not want to spend the money on brands like All-Clad or Viking. The only addition I plan on adding in the near future is the 5 1/2 quart Cuisinart Multiclad Pro saute pan with helper handle. Do yourself a favor and purchase this set. You'll wonder what took you so long also!

After years of working with a mish-mash of pots and pans, I 'splurged' and dropped a C-note for this set of cookware. I swear, it made the food taste 10% better - and makes my kitchen look 50% better. Well, maybe that's an exaggeration but I would surely recommend this set to anyone looking to set up or renew their kitchen. Looks great, cooks great - good heat flow to food while retaining cool handle temperature. Lids fit well and pots clean as easy as any stainless I've ever used.

I bought this set for my college apartment so i could cook for myself on occasion. Well it's not the best set ever, for the value i am very pleased. I steered clear of the teflon/non-stick pans as i saw little point to having it and i didn't want the pans to die on me quickly. As long as you soak them after you cook, there's little residue/scrubbing necessary. They heat incredibly well and i'm very happy with my investment and i do think they'll last for a while.

I've owned this set for over two years. We have not babied this cookware; it's used a lot. The pots, pans and lids are always washed in the dishwasher and turn out sparkling clean. They've also had burnt foods and drips down the side and bottom which comes right off with a little, and I do mean a little, elbow grease and bar tenders friend. The inside of the pans is scratched from the metal utensils I've used but do you really want the inside of your pot or pan to be pristine? The outsides and bottoms of the pans ARE pristine. My daughter is currently completing a wedding registry and I am HIGHLY recommending this set to her. Could I give a better recommendation?

After much deliberation, I decided to buy this 14-piece set. Really, some of the reviews were scary. I went to our local Bed Bath and Beyond just to hold the cookware and check it out. I fell in love with it.

I have had the pans a few months now and they look like the day I pulled them out of the box (thanks to Bar Keepers Friend). They heat well and evenly and look wonderful. We are building a rack to hang them up in the kitchen so they aren't clanging and banging around in the cupboard. I highly recommend this set!

I hastily purchased this set, after reading all the reviews, during the limited 1 hr gold deal, with literally 40 seconds to spare. I am sure glad I did. It was a bargain at $140. I'm replacing old non-stick coated pans for safety sake. I do notice how much more evenly these heat up and also how much hotter they get, so I have to turn the temp down a little bit. In a previous review, I saw a photo of a pot that was damaged due to boiling water in it. Come on. I don't see how that could be possible with these or any other metal set. Mine boils water better than perfectly :-) The handles do stay cool to the touch. I wish the large frying pan handle was a little broader though so that it would be a little easier to pick it up full with more stability, but that's minor once you get use to it, considering the price. These are very shiny and I want to build a nice hanging rack for them to be displayed and easily accessed. There were reviews about the large strainer insert for the deep kettle being too small/short for the deep kettle. There is a 2" space between the bottoms, just like another brand I have. I like that so I can boil 2 inches of water for steaming large amounts vegetables, like a whole head of cauliflower and/or broccoli and also use the smaller steamer insert on top for whatever else. I'm glad I didn't spend a lot of money on this set that will last me for many years.

Bought this pan to replace an aging Silverstone fry pan. The pan is relatively lightweight as it is made out of very thin stainless, and has a bonded aluminum heat spreader on the bottom which is also covered in stainless somehow. It works well and cleans up well. The highly polished domed metal top is really nice, I tend to hate the heavy glass tops that have been all the rage for too long now.

But I'm going to look for something else I can use the top with, something at least an inch deeper and with a real handle. We eat stir-fry once a week or so and this pan is just too shallow, vegetables end up all over the stove and floor no matter how careful you are. And this is just stir-fry for two people. The handles are often too hot to hold, which is a pain. I've seen pans advertised as "chicken cookers" that are more what I'm looking for.

If you fry a small, uncomplicated item in it, like an egg or something, it might work OK, but that's about it. It's too shallow for liquids, and veggies go everywhere.

This was a lesson in what not to buy in cookware from Amazon. First time I put water in the pot added salt and put on low heat to boil after five minutes noticed a strage black spot developing in the pot and then several more appeared. The stainless steel peeled away to reveal a lower black layer. Seems I got a fake! It was like watching a gold overlay item peeling. So disappointing because I had already ordered a second cuisinart pot but still have not used it for fear of ingesting strange toxins from this peeling. Single star for prompt amazon delivery. The product however is a sham....

I bought this pan specifically for braising, thus I never subject it to unusually high heat. A well-made pan costing less than $40 with a top that nicely fits other 12-inch pans is a bargain to begin with. That it handles stove-top heat sensitively is a big plus. I'd be tempted to try other pans from this Cuisinart lineup as a result. Additionally, Amazon's handling of a slight shipping damage problem was so favorable that my previously high level of confidence in the company is now even higher.

Did not expect it with this product. If not for those black holes I would have rated it 5 star.

These pots had such a high rating I thought I'd be so happy with them. They are pretty and have a high shine, which I love. However, you need to use a non-scratch cleaning pad or else they WILL scratch. They also can be used in the oven, and I love that feature too. They heat quickly which is fine, so use medium heat. Just remember to use the non-scratch cleaning pad when cleaning.

This set seems to be a really good deal considering the price but after I used the 3 qrt. saucepan for the first time, the coating of the bottom was gone. I see a lot of spots where the coating disappear considering I just boiled a water with a corn on it. Called customer service for a possible replacement but told me to send the product with a $10 dollar check and I have to pay for the shipping charges. Will not recommend to anybody.
