 "Awesome pans" 2010-01-17

I bought these pans for my husband for christmas and we are quite pleased with them. I looked at many different types and for the price and quality these are wonderful. You do have to read the instructions on cooking and cleaning stainless if you follow that you will love these pans.

"Great Product if used right" 2010-01-05
By Tim Allen (CHICAGO, IL, US)
I have owned the 10" skillet for years now and the pan looks just as good as when I got it. As long as you pre-heat the pan, as you should all cookware, and stray away from high heat, you wont have any issues with sticking or staining. It heats up nicely and retains it's heat well. Even if you burn something on the surface or exterior, a little Bar Keepers cleaning agent will bring it back to it's mirror shine. Of couse you can't directly compare it to the All-Clad counterpart, but for the huge difference in price, this is the best buy you can get if you care anything about the function of a pan. Unless you can afford All-Clad, Cuisinart is a great brand with all of there Chef's Classic Stainless products. They even rate in the top bunch in most of the Cooks Illustrated equipment reviews. Highly recommended.

 "Purchased the 10" a year ago" 2010-01-04
By Valerie (New Jersey, United States)
This pan is for every day use, it's perfect for frying or scrambling a couple eggs or sauteing a good sized onion.

It's very sturdy and looks good. The lids to the 6 qt and 8 qt pots in this line (which I also love) fit perfectly on the 10" fry pan.

The handle truly does stay cool during normal stove top use.

It's important to use some kind of oil when cooking in this pan, if you want to avoid sticking. I personally have no problem using butter. (I use butter all the time in my cooking and no one in my family suffers weight problems, btw.)

Never use the highest heat setting when cooking on an electric stove (I can't speak for gas stoves).

As soon as you are finished using it, run a bit of water in the bottom of the pan and set it aside until you are ready to wash it. It cleans up great every time using a soft sponge. Even if you forget, run warm water in it when you do remember and maybe even set it on a warm stove top and leave it for 15 to 20 minutes, usually. I've never had a problem with it cleaning up using this method. As long as I wash with hot water, it comes clean with little pressure.

I'm sure this information is somewhere within other reviews here, but it's been over a year since I scoured them. :o) I wanted to focus solely on my personal experience over the past year.

If you don't use the highest heat and don't let it "cook" dry, it should give you faithful service.

 "Very Pleased" 2010-01-03
By Reviewer26
I purchased this as my second pan purchase from the Cuisinart Chef Classic series. I have had both for about six months and could not be happier. I read all he reviews and was wondering is it going to stick, it it going to be hard to clean, ect and all I can say is this:

It cooks food evenly and as long as you rinse with water and a little dishsoap before it cools clean up is a breeze. For tough jobs let it soak, then sprinkle a little stainless steel cleanser.

A great quality pan for a good price!

 "Forizzle Frying Force" 2009-12-27
By Gene Twilley (Philadelphia, PA)
I purchased the 8" pan about two years ago (from Macy's) and can little but great things about this little fryer. Our main use for the pan is to fry eggs and it does the job right. I think the biggest learning curve for us was to realize how much better butter worked than spray.

Clean up is usually a breeze - I just pour water into the pan while it's still hot and most of what's stuck practically jumps back off. I take a brush to the rest and, voila, it's clean.

What originally sold us on this pan was the fact that it stainless-steel and rather inexpensive (we thought, "expendable" if we had to eventually get rid of it). We had a set of Calphalon non-stick pans...but I did something to them to ensure the non-stick portion didn't stick anymore either (not worth going into here). All to say, if you have non stick, residue from cooking sprays will stick to the edges; it is a fact of non-stick life. With this pan, we knew we wouldn't have to worry about that. Plus, most of my cookware is stainless-steel, so we wanted something that we didn't have to worry about ruining.

Altogether, I don't think you can be this pan for less than $20. If we needed more frying pans, I'd feel confident in buying the whole set.

 "Buy this pan!" 2010-01-01
By Anne D. (AUSTIN, TX, US)
We are ordering this 12" skillet to round out our set of Cuisinart Multiclad Pro SS because WE LOVE THIS STUFF! My husband and I ordered the hard-to-find 17 piece set and we're so glad we did. The cookware is beautiful, solid, cooks superbly and is a fantastic value. Since getting the set, we've added 2 2-qt. saucepans and a 3 1/2 qt. casserole with lid. The 17-piece set comes with a FANTASTIC 5 1/2 qt. saute pan with lid that we could not live without. If you are ordering this 12-inch fry pan, consider ordering the 5 1/2 qt. saute pan as well. The lid for the saute pan will fit the fry pan, too, and you'll be so happy you ordered both.

A very good product. If you want a lid, then buy one...don't try that "deceptive seller" routine. Just be an aware buyer and read the product description that never says it comes with a lid and the picture shows the product without a lid. Sheesh! Dealing with the American consumer is a pain. Oh, heat you pan first, then add oil and food to reduce sticking. Also, learn to drive a car before you drive one. Sheesh!

Thought it's time to rate my products as I ALWAYS read the reviews before purchasing. In short, LOVE MY PAN! You don't have to worry about the teflon coating peeling as I've heard that this can cause cancer. These pans will eventually become heirlooms because they NEVER wear out. Well worth the money (and cheaper on Amazon.com).

If you purchased the cuisinart set, you need this piece. Only other problem is that you may need a 12" cover which is $69 on Cuisinart web site. I just purchased the 12" Cuisinart MultiClad Pro Casserole with Lid for $60 on Amazon to complete the set.

 "cookware" 2009-11-03
By dizzy (prescott az)
this cookware seems to be very well made. As with all stainless one must use a good amount of oil to keep food from sticking, but they do clean up well if filled with water directly after use. Given the choice between olive oil and plastic, well I'd rather have a bit extra oil in my diet. The only reason not to give five stars at this point is I want to see how it holds up. In the past I've been very disapointed with Cuisinart's Teflon cookware, it did not live up to it's name. We have a gas cooktop and the cookware seems to be preforming well.

I bought the 10 piece Cuisinart Chef's cookware set and added this as I knew I would need one extra pan. It is wonderful and the lid fits with my other pans. I love the solid yet not too heavy feel of the pan. Buy it, you will like it !! Be sure to read the "hints and instructions" that come with the pans. Two thumbs up !

"Didn't stay nice for long" 2009-12-18
By M. Kim
Bought this less than 2 years ago; despite not having used it much, it's in bad condition. Not sure if it's discoloration or disappearance of first layer, but anyway the whole pan is mottled brown. I didn't treat it harshly, just normal cooking. I use my mom's Wolfgang Puck Cafe Collection stainless steel pan as well. In comparison, that one is much heavier and surface looks perfectly fine. So that makes me think this particular pan was not made well and it's not somehow my fault. Disappointing.

"Bought it for the lid and got a great pan as a bonus..." 2009-11-13
By JD (Northeastern PA USA)
I stumbled upon this pan when looking for a lid for my 12 inch Lodge Cast Iron Skillet. The lid works great on the Lodge, but I also really like the pan. It's great for browning largish batches of chicken, and I use it for a lot of Cooks Illustrated Skillet recipes as well. It heats up more evenly than my Lodge skillet. I've had it over a year and used it frequently with no visible signs of wear. I bought 2 more as gifts for the retired chefs in the family since they liked mine so much. It's a great value (you can pay as much for just a 12 inch lid), and handles everything a skillet does except for tossing (since there's no long handle).

"Great pan, but not nonstick" 2009-11-08
By Ann Onymous (Alabama, USA)
This is a wonderful pan. It's heavy, cooks well, and can go in the oven and dishwasher. We did, though, come back and order a set of the Cuisinart nonstick pans, which work better for things that tend to stick.

"Cuisinart Chef's Classic Line Rocks!" 2009-11-05
By D Dogg (California)
I highly recommend this line of pots/pans. This is my second, after the 14 inch fry pan. Both cook well, clean well, are durable, well made, etc.

I'm not sure why the one reviewer said it was flimsy and turned black/ruined after one use. Did you burn your food to hell and not use any cooking oil, etc? I've had no problems. Sure, sometimes food gets burned if you cook your meat a long time, but I scrub it and it's as good as new. I actually use steel wool and abrasive sponges on it, and I don't think it does any damage to the pan. I'm not a professional chef, so it works fine for me.

Lid fits nicely, and it's high so you have lots of room if you need it.

I was going to get the 12 inch fry pan w/ handle of the same Cuisinart line, but when you factor in the lid price, this was cheaper and works the same.

Recommended.

 "Not Stamped 18/10" 2010-01-08
By Nick E. (Chicago, IL)
The set is not stamped and is considerably thinner than existing Cuisinart cookware that I have. The description clearly states 18/10, but the quality difference and lack of stamping make me think otherwise. The oven safe temperature on the description also differs from the oven safe temperature of "550" that comes in the packaging, which makes me question what set is being advertised. This set isn't cheap because it's a deal, it's cheap because it is cheaply made.

"Had them for a YEAR Already :)" 2009-12-21
By Success Is Best (Atlanta, GA)
I bought this pan set at Amazon about a year ago. I LOVE them! This is my first "real" set of pots and pans. I am a persistent researcher and I spent weeks researching pots and pans before I settled on this set. I learned about how the non-stick coating is bad for you - and my cheapie non stick pans had flaked up, etc... I wanted something that had NO coating on it. These pans are beautiful. They are shiny and have been easy to keep that way. I did make 1 mistake when I first got them - I used a plastic spatula in the frying pan and accidentally melted it on the frying pan when I held it too long in one place! I researched and found that cream of tartar sauce would remove it and make it like new and it did :) Whew! So, the food cooks evenly. It says in the instructions NEVER to turn your stovetop burners on high when using these pans and I go to number 7 max and that has worked perfectly. No need to go to super high heat because these pots allow water to come to a boil pretty quickly on 7 (which my old nonstick pots never did). Hmmm. Mine have not pitted. I use them everyday to cook. I put them in the dishwasher without anything touching them of course (so they don't scratch while being washed). I keep them stored without stacking and don't stack them in the sink (to prevent exterior surface scratching). So far not one single scratch! I was thinking about buying a second set as backups and/or for display on a pot rack I just bought and use the pots I already have as my everyday pots and pans. Is that crazy?

 "Difficult To Maintain" 2009-12-12
By Travis C. Moore (Los Angeles)
If I were to do it over again, I probably would have gone with a high end nonstick set. Stainless steel can be inconvenient. Make sure you purchase Barkeeper's Friend to remove discoloration every 3-6 months. Aside from that gripe, the set is heavy duty and well-made. It also looks more professional than nonstick.

Customer Buzz
"Good quality & functional for the price" 2009-11-02
By Steven Cagle
I purchased this based on the recommendations from Cook's Illustrated. Since I can't afford the price of All-Clad, this cookware appeared to be a good value at less than half the price. I was replacing a mish-mash of worn-out non-stick and wanted something which would last longer. I have been please with its performance.

First, I had to adjust downward the burner temperatures I used on my glass-top electric stove since these pans are much more efficient. The highest level I use is slightly above half-power, and I've had no difficulties with burning or sticking. Also, do not shock hot cookware by spraying or immersing it in cold water so as to keep it from warping.

While the written description clearly states that this product is made from 18/10 stainless steel, IT IS NOT.

When I received this product I was surprised that the packaging did not mention 18/10. So I e-mailed Norpro, the manufacturer. They told me that it is 18/0 stainless steel. Huge difference. People buy 18/10 because testing has shown that it leaches little or no nickel, etc. into food.

This is a good sized sheet and great for the price. I love that we don't pay for shipping on Amazon.com. This sheet is not heavy like professional ones, but quite heavy for home baking needs. I baked puff pastries and it didn't stick. I baked breads in it and it worked great. It's easy to wash and maintain. Mine didn't warp when I baked it at 450 degrees. Most baking will be under that temperature and you shouldn't have any warping problems. I'd highly recommend this product to anybody who is looking to get rid of nonstick sheets.

 "Cook OK, look terrible" 2010-01-03
By Walter Feigenson (Walnut Creek, CA United States)
These pots stain. This doesn't appear to affect the cooking performance, but they don't look very good. The staining started with my first use - warming some chili. Also, I don't like the finish, which isn't brushed, but rather is grooved. Covers fit nicely, and the weight of the pots is nice. Certainly, the price was low enough. So, if you're looking for something inexpensive that cooks well, these are a good choice. Made in Thailand, and they look (from pictures) to be the same as Costco's Kirkland set.

 "Awesome Cookware!" 2009-12-25
By Peggy A. Hand (Palm Beach,Florida USA)
I read all the reviews, especially by chefs using this product.

Well they weren't wrong! This is a fantastic set of cookware,at a fabulous price! Any set I had found even close to these were in the $400 to $600 range.

They are so sturdy, not to heavy, and the lids fit down into the pots about 1/2",making a very snug fit and decreasing cook/boil times. Also,if anyone else looked at the pictures and thought they are glass lids, they aren't. They look so shiny in the photos,I was afraid that they were glass.(which I think glass lids are useless anyway, they steam up in two seconds).

If you have read any other reviews I have posted, you know that I "do my homework" before buying ANYTHING!

So let me save you the time I spent and JUST BUY THEM!

 "Lovely Set" 2009-12-16
By FatOrangeTabby (Lansing, MI)
I got this set about two weeks ago and figured I'd use all the pieces a bit before I wrote a review. I have to admit that my first impression of the set was pure joy. I had been using a ten-year-old Revereware set, good in its own right, but there were some things I disliked about the Revereware, mainly the fact that the bottoms did not make good contact with my stove burners (ceramic top). These pots and pans were so shiny right out of the box, so much heavier than I expected, and so obviously worth the money I paid for them, that I was thrilled. They are SO much heavier than expected. Not heavy in a bad way, like you can't lift them or anything. Just not cheap and easy to dent. I had never used a frying pan not coated in Teflon, and I was a little intimidated by the fact that these are not nonstick. Since this was the very reason I bought them (Teflon is evil) I decided to dive right in. This has been my experience so far, even though I can't comment on the overall longevity of the set at this time.

*I love the finish. These are so pretty, I intend to get a pot rack and hang them for all to see!

*The lids are awesome. Nice tight fit. I think they may even be weighted. I didn't want glass lids for breakage reasons, and the lids from my old pans had a lip that trapped moisture underneath. I was forever burning myself or dripping water all over the stove every time I lifted the lid to check something.

*I chose this set over the Cuisinart set because of the three sizes of saucepans, which my old set had and I am used to.

*Love the handles! I didn't think I would at first, but they really do stay cool and are grippy so you're less likely to drop a full pot when transferring it.

*Easy to clean. I haven't tried frying an egg or anything, but I think for everything except eggs and pancakes these will be wonderful. I made pizza sauce in the larger fry pan and it cleaned up in a snap. I even melted chocolate and marshmallow for some cookies in the saucepans and those also cleaned up quite easily.

Now for a couple things that could be better:

*The set could have included a lid for the smaller fry pan. I assumed that the lid to the one of the saucepans would fit the smaller fry pan as well (my old set was this way) and was slightly disappointed to find that this is not the case.

*One of the saucepans has some "pitting" on the inside bottom that was not there when I opened the box. Another reviewer mentioned this too. I tried cleaning it with baking soda and water as the instructions suggest, but no dice.

*You must be very diligent about drying these IMMEDIATELY if you don't want water spots on them. I know that is the nature of the beast, my other stainless is the same, but it's a bummer. I want them fresh and shiny clean all the time, and they just don't look as nice if left to air-dry.

Just some minor gripes. They were SO worth the money, especially since the price jumped fifteen bucks the day after I ordered them, and I got a forty dollar rebate to boot. I almost spent 3 times more on a much costlier set, but I suspect I would have been paying for the name. Of course KitchenAid is also a brand name, and a darn good one at that, (I am in love with my Artisan stand mixer) so why not the pots and pans set? After reading all the positives here on Amazon, I decided to try them and I'm so glad I did!
