"Two is better than One" 2009-08-12
By Kerri Hamblin (Mesa, AZ)
I bought this for a Father's day gift for my dad. My mom was so happy that I did. She likes that the original bowl is black so that she can tell when she puts one back in the freezer which one to use next. They practically make ice cream every day and you have to freeze the bowls at least 24 hours or they don't make the ice cream hard enough. So if they do use them every day she can tell that she used the silver one Tuesday so Wednesday she will use the black one. I will definately order one for myself now!

 "More is better" 2009-08-04
By R. WILSON (St Helens, OR)
I purchased the full machine and then realized I would need more tubs for more flavors. I purchased 2 more and they have paid off, for the company 4th of July potluck I made 3 different flavors, including one dairy free for those that were casin sensitive. They all enjoyed it and loved the fact that I made it in the breakroom and knew it was fresh.

This also is a good price as I was unable to find it cheaper and I am a hunter on bargains.

"I find that it does better making frozen custard not Ice-cream" 2009-07-09
By Jack (NMI) Stecker
This machine does a good job with sorbet and frozen custard. But it does not put enough air in Ice-cream and it gets hard as a rock in the freezer. I have not tried frozen yogurt yet but will. I found a trick with sorbet that keeps it from freezing hard. I put 2 tablespoons of vodka in the mix. The sorbet was a hit at the 4th of July party we had. It was a really hot day here in Dallas.

I was looking for a 4" Cuisinart knife to go with my 5" and found the 2 negative reviews. Not sure how they wash their knives, but I usually do it by hand but sometimes it goes in the dishwasher. No rust after 4 or 5 years.

It also looks like this line is discontinued because I can't find too many choices at this point in time.

It's my favorite knife. Too bad I wont be able to add to my set.

I agree with the first poster. The knives seemed to cut and work well, but after one use and only one washing, rust spots have begun forming on the blade. it happened not only to this knife, but a number of other Cuisinart products that I began using at the same time.

Interestingly, this product appears NOWHERE on Cuisinart's site. in fact, I couldnt find a single knife of any kind on their site.

"Great cookware for the money" 2009-09-13
By M. J. Quinn (Redwood City, CA United States)
This is a great set for the little money it cost. I could easily have spent more and gotten less. Cleans easily and cooks well, although I do notice temperature differences in the bottoms of the pans that the aluminum layer was supposed to eliminate, this set still cooks better than my old set and I am very happy.

 "Very Good Enough!" 2009-09-12
By J. Biallas (St. Charles, Illinois, USA)
My wife and I had long wished to obtain a quality stainless steel cookware set.We had been using 35 year old basic stainless pots that had performed OK but not well.

We had priced All-Clad and its competitors, but sticker shock always got in the way of a purchase. I then read the equipment review in Cook's Illustrated and fond this set on Amazon. The price was fabulous, so I bought it for our joint anniversary present. We could not be more pleased with the finish, fit and all-around cooking performance for the price. The pans heat evenly and clean up very easily. We o use less heat to obtain the same result.

A wise old saying that "perfection is the enemy of Good Enough". If All-Clad is the supposed perfection, then this Cuisinart cookware set is Very Good Enough. We are very happy with this set.

 "Great cookware set" 2009-09-09
By Salley (Texas)
I really like this cookware. It is very attractive and practical. It works as expected: takes a while to heat up and holds heat very well. I'm very pleased with this great set, but I'll point out the few reasons I rate it less-than-perfect.

The set is quite complete, but for me, is larger than it needs to be. It was the smallest set I found with all the pieces I need. It's a lot of cookware to store.

The pots work as well as I could hope. Holding heat is especially efficient for pots. The pans are quite good, too. I often saute', and at the high heat, the oil can leave on orange-brown residue. I takes some elbow grease to remove the residue. I guess a hard anodized aluminum pan would be better for this application.

I've used the pasta insert and love the concept of lifting an emptying strainer out of the heavy pot rather than pouring the steaming water from the pot into a colander. However, I found that during cooking, I lost some spaghetti through the the strainer's holes. The lost spaghetti wasn't the worst problem; the fact that the lost pasta stuck to the hot newly-emptied pan was. Not serious, but annoying.

I like that the lids fit and seal well, good especially for rice. I wish that the many lids would seat securely upside-down atop the pots to allow stacking, but that may be an unreasonable expectation. It's also too bad that more of the pieces don't have the same diameter, allowing sharing of lids between pieces. Or that Cuisinart would make a smaller set that contains more of the standard sizes perhaps leaving out the pasta insert, steamer, and stock pot. Many people may already have a stock pot.

The price is attractive for the quality.

"Who checks the bogus pricing?" 2009-10-08
By An engineer (California)
Amazon should be responsible for bogus pricing of their items. This is listed as a $78 item, discounted from $145. That's just a misrepresentation (another term for a lie). It's listed at the Cuisinart Web site at $79.95. At Bed Bath and Beyond, it's a whopping $79.99. Amazon is a good place to shop, but there are lots of pricing misrepresentations, particularly those that exaggerate the "discount".

 "Great slow cooker" 2009-08-26
By Elisabeth N. Mccay (Timberlake, NC USA)
After hanging on to my crock pot for 32 years, my mother suggested I upgrade to this one. It has features I never even dreamed of! Eg.I never realized you should never leave the house if you have one of the old-fashioned crock pots cooking. I always did... But with this one, you just set the timer and when the food's done, it goes into a "warm" mode eliminating the worry that it might go up in flames while you're out!

I also really love that I can take the insert out to wash. Plus it's very spacious. I have yet to fill it up for just the two of us, but nice to know I can cook for a small crowd if needed. The retractable cord is terrific. The unit looks so good I just leave it out on the counter - which also encourages me to use it more often. Important safety feature if you have children: the insulation is more than adequate, keeping the entire unit a safe temperature. Even the insert can be handled without pot holders.

Get this one - well worth the extra money!

 "Sent it back" 2009-07-19
By Crockpot User
I chose this crockpot because it looked cool, was a smaller size, and was programmable. The first time I used it, the lid rattled ALOT and water spurted out the side. So, when I am home, it will drive me nuts with the rattling, and when I'm not home, it will make a nice pool of water all over my counter. No thanks. I sent it back. Unfortunately, it seems most crockpots these days are made this way, with a glass lid that just sits on top and allows for these things to happen.

My dinner did turn out good though, so if you don't care about these problems, it might be an OK choice.

 "Disappointed" 2009-09-21
By Andrea (Oregon)
I was really excited to have gotten this as a gift.. The first 3 times I used it, everything turned out great and I loved the popcorn. I used 'popcorn oil' from the market. The 4th time I went to make popcorn (all within the same week) I went to lift the base of and the lever to one of the handles snapped. Well, it still worked, but I returned it to the store knowing that the other lever would most likely break as well and I wanted to get it back within the return policy time limits..

Disappointed...

"Easily Breaks, good tasting popped corn, not worth the price." 2009-07-11
By Michelle Kramer
We received this as a gift upon our request. We loved the taste of the popcorn made with canola oil. After about 10 uses and 3 months time the bottom unit broke where the heating plate conntcts to the bottom. A plastic piece broke off and the heating plate would not fully click into place. This in turn causes the plate to not heat up. My father in law gave me all the info on the order and I contacted the company on Amazon that he purchased the unit. They had a 1 month warranty and we needed to call Cuisinart. I contacted them. They would send me a new bottom. There was a $20 fee and then, I'd need to sent the old base back at my own expense. I decided to go through with it since I had gotten it as a gift. Cuisinart ended up sending a whole new machine. I have used this unit 5 times and the same plastic piece broke on the same side and no longer useful, yet again. This is too much of a coincidence. I will not be replacing it. For the price of this unit, you would think it would be sturdier. For the $20 plus shipping to get parts, I'll take my chances on an $20-$30 air popper instead!

 "It's alright" 2009-06-08
By Willard (Westlake Village, CA)
My unit has been used 6 times or so with no issues. I haven't had the issues setting it up that people talk about. The popcorn is good, I'm still tweaking my proportions of corn and oil. Popcorn popped this way tastes/feels slightly less dry than microwave or air-popped corn. I also think the "bowl", the big clear container on top is to blame for too much moisture remaining. Despite the vents at the top, mine gathers significant condensation inside while popping, and that moisture just gets the popcorn damp when emptying it. I don't eat out of the bowl either, it's really not ideal for serving because of the vents and the cover fits loosely as stated elsewhere.

I haven't had the quality issues, but I purchased at Costco where there is a very liberal return policy, so I'm not worried.

Customer Buzz
 "Poor manufacturing standards" 2009-06-01
By clvandenberg (Trenton, NJ United States)
This is a popcorn popper that doesn't pop more than a dozen or so batches before the heating element dies. Yes, a very simple piece of equipment is the major engineering flaw in this very expensive piece of junk. But that's not all--as other reviewers have noted, the heating tray has to be positioned just right in order to even get it "locked" onto the heating element in order for the darn thing to work at all. Then, of course, just when you finally think you've figured out how to make the fickle popper pop, the heating element breaks and you throw up your hands in disgust.

What's the point of replacing the $65 piece of junk by paying another $10+ in shipping costs just to have the same thing happen again.

 "Buyer, caution" 2009-08-04
By Haywood S. Osborne (Northern VA, in southern Boswash)
We bought a CMW100 microwave at the end of March this year. We liked the stainless interior and thought it did a good job. Then, in mid-July it just stopped working altogether. I suspect a blown fuse, but can't really tell. The microwave was running as usual and then just stopped. We since have seen a number of similar experiences with this oven in other reviews.

Called Cuisinart Customer Support, who would only help to to extent of offering to waive the return shipping charge ($15) if we sent the microwave to them for repair, at our expense. This on a 4 month purchase. I fumed.

The Cuisinart contact suggested going back to the retail vendor, in this case our local Bed, Bath & Beyond. We did, and they could not have been nicer nor more helpful. They fully reversed the charge for the purchase and even issued us a discount coupon as we had applied one to the original purchase!

Along with the fuse? problem we've had, this microwave has an awkward keyboard setting: you have to enter the power level each time you set the cooking time, even if you are going to run at full power. It is somewhat noisy compared to others we've owned.

 "DON'T BUY THIS!" 2009-05-07
By Dara Slivka
I absolutely love the look of this microwave....however...I have owned it for less than a year and it is seriously malfunctioning. Keep in mind I am single and use it maybe 3 times a week at most to heat up food or make popcorn. Last week I put something in to heat up and closed the door and the microwave started on its own before I programmed it to do anything. It wouldn't stop no matter what button I pushed, so I unplugged it thinking it was confused and that it would clear it. Nope. Plugged it back in and it kept running--and evidently would do so forever. So, I opened the door while it was running (how dangerous is that?) and then when I hit stop it did so. THEN, last night I'm watching TV and hear a whirring noise. The microwave started on its own...very frightening. So, DON'T BUY THIS...there is definitely something wrong with the mechanics and the idea of having to cart it somewhere for repair or mailing it back now doesn't sound appealing. Or worse, if it starts running on its own if you leave your house...I won't trust another Cuisinart.

 "Poor workmanship for Cuisinart" 2009-02-02

Ordered same product twice but returned twice, no fault of Amazon though. Microwave not put together properly at factory. If looking at front of microwave, both were dented and bowed on the right side and also bowed on the bottom, so did not sit flat on counter. Usually have no problems with Cuisinart but poor "QC" on Cuisinart's part.

The only microwave that I could use due to space limitations and power requirements. Still not as powerful as I would like, but certainly far superior to Panasonic that it has replaced. At least it stays on the shelf when door is opened. Stainless liner is a plus. Exterior also stainless, not white as shown, but this is fine.

As many of you know, it's impossible to find a microwave that's NOT made in China. So, I searched high and low for a decent one (after my other one caught on fire). This seemed well-made and it really is. The stainless interior is nice because it doesn't stain and trap odors. Lower wattage than my other microwave, but that's ok. Works nicely.  "Disappointed" 2009-03-17
By CobraRed (NY, NY USA)
The unit worked OK for the first year. Toast is NOT it's strong suit as toasting is very uneven and the top toasting pattern seldom looks like the bottom. After about 8 months I had trouble getting the door to close completely, very annoying. Then about a month ago it lost all ability to control the degree of heat. No matter what setting it is on the unit defaults to FULL BLAST. First noticed when my smoke alarm went off after a bagel was incinerated beyond recognition!

Currently resides in my trash can......

"The best toaster oven for the money" 2009-01-07

I have been very pleased with this toaster oven. It bakes, broils, and it's simple to use. It's also easy to clean.

 "A fine toaster oven" 2008-12-27
By KK (NJ, NJ USA)
This toaster oven works just fine. It's a good size and does not take up too much counter space. If it was just a little larger in height and had a timer, it would get 5 stars. The timer would certainly come in handy, but it's not an essential. One thing: I had to send the first one back because of a slight defect on the control panel (the label was partially missing for the Function knob.) Amazon sent me a new one right away. I believe the slight defect was overlooked by the manufacturer, and NOT caused by Amazon's packing and shipping, but I couldn't find a matching reason to explain this when I used Amazon's online return. The second toaster was packed even more thoroughly than the first, but again, I don't think the issue was with Amazon's packing, which was quite adequate. They made it right, right away.

 "Remodel" 2008-10-23

We purchased this toaster oven to use during our complete kitchen remodel. The laundry room was the make do kitchen area for longer than I would like to remember. To make life seem as normal as possible during this process I used this product almost daily from morning toast to even broiled chicken. The remodel is complete and the toaster oven has earned it's counter space and the stainless steel finish looks great next to my new appliances.
